# LocalGhost.ai > LocalGhost is a local-first, privacy-focused AI platform built on cypherpunk principles. All inference and data storage runs on user-owned hardware with no cloud dependency. Fully open-source. The project is currently in Phase 0, architecture and manifesto documented, first commits landing. Founder: Vlad Cealicu, former Co-Founder and CTO of CryptoCompare / CCData. The site has three primary sections: the Manifesto (the philosophical and technical argument for local-first AI), Hard Truths (a long-form essay series on tech, power, privacy, and the skills pipeline), and Build (the public roadmap and contribution guide). The tone is direct and opinionated. Posts are labelled SIGNAL, ALARM, or WINDOW to indicate certainty level. ## Core - [This Dystopia is Boring](https://www.localghost.ai/manifesto): This dystopia is boring. The exit is open. A manifesto for local-first, open-source sovereignty. Code, not promises. - [Build This | The Roadmap](https://www.localghost.ai/build): The puzzle pieces needed to reclaim digital independence. What the ecosystem needs, what we're building, and how to help. - [Hard Truths](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths): Uncomfortable observations about tech, power, and what we broke along the way. No comfort. - [Local-First Directory | Software You Actually Own](https://www.localghost.ai/directory): A curated index of local-first AI tools that run offline, self-host, and keep your data on your own hardware. Model runtimes, chat interfaces, local knowledge bases, and on-device personal AI. ## Hard Truths Essays - [The Expensive Part Was Never the AI](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/the-expensive-part): A near-frontier model runs at interactive speed on a card you own, for the cost of the electricity. Renting the same capability from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google is a fee priced below cost, your data on their servers, and only rising. - [A Ghost Should Not Possess](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/should-not-possess): The same manipulation patterns that built the slot machine, the cult, and the social media feed are aimed at you through your AI. Twenty-eight patterns of possession and what an anti-possession daemon would have to do about each one. - [An Index Is Not a Person](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/index-not-a-person): Wellness scores look like personal readings. They are bucket placements, sold to advertisers, dressed up in your colours. - [The Integration Tax](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/integration-tax): Every company that holds your personal data is compelled to fail you. The architecture has to remove the company. - [What the Ghost Owes the People It Overhears](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/overhears): Privacy belongs to everyone in the conversation. A memory device that captures them all is a surveillance system with one user and a lot of subjects. - [The Ghost Has to Be Useful on Day One](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/day-one): - [Before You Ask](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/before-you-ask): RAG answers the questions you ask. It cannot help when the moment passes before the question forms. What the brain does that RAG does not, and what ghost.cued has to do. - [The Bureaucracy Trap](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/the-bureaucracy-trap): Standing on a trail in Abruzzo that the regional government had just cut the funding for, wondering what sixty thousand euros costs the people who decided not to spend it. On the accumulation pattern inside every big human project, the mechanism that keeps some of them lean, and the discipline nobody wants to build. - [How Memory Gets Made](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/how-memory-gets-made): Have you ever considered how a computer representation of your brain would work? On what your brain keeps, what it quietly releases while you sleep, when calcification is the right answer, and where the constraints on a system running on your own hardware differ from the constraints on biology. - [How to Build a Critic Worth Listening To](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/critic-worth-listening-to): A friend told me my advice felt too directive. A colleague I worked with for years showed me a better way. The technique that helps you find the right answer is the same one that, in different hands, walks you to the wrong one. - [The Honeypot Under Your Desk](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/honeypot): A thief can't make you type your password. A person with a wrench can. First post on ghost.secd, the LocalGhost daemon that handles encryption, duress PINs, hidden volumes, and the purge. - [The Model Trap](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/model-trap): Copilot understands your codebase. Gemini knows your email patterns. Claude has months of your reasoning. The new lock-in isn't your data, it's the context around it, and no export button can give it back. - [How to Prevent Building Your Own Dictator Brain](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/dictator-brain): We were trying to decide whether to start a company together. Then I started sharing AI logs. The longer your AI knows you, the less likely it is to tell you the truth. - [One Bad Quarter](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/one-bad-quarter): Paul called me about thirty stores opening Friday and a dev team that had gone quiet. Six months of the same conversation with people I respect, all of them working it out. On why the window is open right now and why it won't stay that way. - [We Sold a Generation a Dream](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/skillcraft): The death of skillcraft. We didn't lose the ability to build overnight. We defunded it incrementally, rationally, one outsourcing contract at a time. - [The Reckoning](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/reckoning): Is the rot inevitable? How do ethical builders survive? What happens when a generation never knew privacy? Hard questions, honest answers. - [Inflection, The Window Is Closing](https://www.localghost.ai/hard-truths/inflection): Hardware is commoditising. Software is the battleground. Build credible alternatives before the defaults are set. ## Optional - [GitHub Organisation](https://github.com/LocalGhostDao): Source code, including the main localghost repository with README, SECURITY, and architecture docs. - [Brand Guidelines](https://www.localghost.ai/brand-guidelines): Visual identity, colour palette, typography. - [Writing Guidelines](https://www.localghost.ai/writing-guidelines): Editorial standards for the Hard Truths series. - [llms-full.txt](https://www.localghost.ai/llms-full.txt): Full text of all published essays concatenated, for complete context ingestion.
